What To Look For When Shopping For Dogs Winter Clothing

With Frigid temperatures spreading their claws, most dog owners' first question is “Whether my Dog Needs Winter Clothing” or “Do pets need clothes” “Do they feel cold” etc. That is why there are many things that a pet owner should consider while buying clothes for your pet dog.

  • Determine The Breed Need- Toy breed dogs like Chihuahuas, Pug, Pomeranians, have mostly thin hairs and cannot easily generate body heats to sustain the temperatures in extreme freezing climates.

Similarly, dogs that have long thick coats do not need furry heavy coats. Northern temperature               breeds like Samoyeds, Chow Chow, Shiba, Siberian Husky can survive snowy weather as their               coats are naturally and genetically designed to keep them warm against freezing temperatures.

  • Sensitive Area Protection- Once you have decided that your canine needs winter clothing, Then look for the one that protects their belly because that is the place where most dogs do not have fur, and when they sit down, their bellies may brush against snow, ice, and cold floors which may be very uncomfortable for them.
  • The Size Is Important- Check the Inches, Neck, Chest, length according to the breed because you want a coat that will be comfortable and not too tight for them to the point to prevent movement, or would make going to the bathroom stops problematic. The coats you choose should extend from the neck base to their tails.
  • Clothes Not Just For Winter- Long furry coats often attract external fleas and parasites to make home inside those shiny soft skin of your pets which many of the owners would not even notice. So to prevent that, always choose clothing for pets like t-shirts thin jackets, etc, which will prevent the ticks and fleas from attacking the coat of your canine while you are walking outside.

The regular pet clothes may not be sufficient to keep dogs warm at low temperatures. You can use light clothing like dog t-shirts when they are indoors. However, if the temperature outside falls to the point your pet starts to shiver, you just need to get some heavy winter dog jackets and hoodies for providing full insulation for them. Also, if you trim the hair of your long fur pet, as in the case of Poodles or Samoyeds, you need to warm them with alternative insulation.

Keep your Canine Bff warm and snuggled whenever the temperature drops down. The Dog Father has a great variety of hoodies, t-shirts, and jackets, including light-weight dog jackets, dog accessories, and cat fashionable clothing that can keep them perfectly warm and snug in winters.
